• Philosophy - Detroit Receiving Hospital is committed to caring for everyone.

• Profile - It is the first American College of Surgeons verified Level One Trauma Center in Michigan and one of the first in the country. It is also the only hospital of record, in the country, devoted to adult emergency medicine, trauma and critical care.

• Specialties - Receiving is a leader in emergency medicine in Michigan, due in part to the volume of complex trauma related cases and its academic teaching programs. There are over 80,000 emergency department visits per year. the hospital is noted for the burn center, hyperbaric medicine, emergency psychiatry, spinal cord and traumatic brain injury care. Nurses also receive extensive training in their areas of specialized patient care.

• Access - Receiving is licensed for 320 beds and accepts critically ill or injured patients from all parts of the upper and lower peninsula and nearby states. University Health Center is one of the busiest outpatient facilities in the country with more than 30 specialty clinics and services where close to 250,000 patients are seen every year.

• Academia - Receiving has a long-standing relationship with Wayne State University. Over 95% of DRH physicians serve on the faculty and as department heads at Wayne's medical school. The hospital is a preferred site for resident training, including students from internationally known institutions. Approximately 50% of the physicians who practice in Southeast Michigan trained at DRH.
